SPRINGFIELD, Ga. — Community spirit was on full display Saturday as residents gathered at Effingham Premier community partner Moncrief Square in downtown Springfield to welcome EmployAbility to Effingham County during a family-friendly Ice Cream Social that celebrated connection, inclusion, and the power of community partnerships.
Hosted at Moncrief Square, the event brought together families, local organizations, and community leaders for an afternoon filled with ice cream, games, crafts, conversation, and new friendships. The event served as an opportunity for residents to learn more about EmployAbility’s mission of empowering individuals with disabilities through employment opportunities, independence, and community inclusion.
A highlight of the afternoon was the partnership with the legendary Leopold’s Ice Cream, whose iconic red ice cream cart delighted attendees while serving delicious frozen treats, including EmployAbility’s signature anniversary flavor. The sweet treats provided the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations and helped create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance.
Helping make the day even more special were Effingham Talks and Effingham Premier, who proudly served as the community’s goodwill ambassadors in officially welcoming EmployAbility to Effingham County. As part of that welcome, the event was held at Effingham Premier partner Moncrief Square, a community gathering place that continues to host events that bring residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations together. Effingham Talks and Effingham Premier’s ongoing mission of connecting residents, highlighting positive stories, and strengthening community relationships made them a natural partner in introducing one of the region’s newest nonprofit organizations to local families.
The event also showcased the strength of T.E.N.N. (The Effingham Nonprofit Network), as several member organizations came together to support EmployAbility and demonstrate the collaborative spirit that exists throughout Effingham County’s nonprofit community.
Among those welcoming EmployAbility were fellow T.E.N.N. members Effingham Navigator, Faith Equestrian Center, and Special Kicks, each representing organizations dedicated to improving lives and serving residents across the county. Their presence reflected the shared belief that when nonprofits work together, the entire community benefits.
Throughout the afternoon, families enjoyed more than just ice cream.
